Few Months Left: Some Tips For XAT

XAT ( Xavier Aptitude Test) is one of the most popular MBA entrance exams. Any student planning to get an MBA should try to clear the XAT for having the top school. 

XAT is conducted by (Xavier labour relation institute) (XLRI) Jamshedpur. This exam Includes 5 sections 

  1. Verbal Ability And Logical/Analytical Reasoning
  2. Quantitative Ability(QA) and Data Interpretation
  3. General Knowledge
  4. Decision Making
  5. Essay Writing

As per the pattern, XAT exam will be conducted on 7th January 2024

Note: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree equivalent of at least three years duration. However, XLRI also specifies programmes wise eligibility criteria for applicants.

Some Tips For Preparation

  1. Exam pattern: The first and foremost thing is to understand the exam pattern and syllabus. One should know the number of questions in each section. Criteria for negative marking , how many chapters are there, checkout the syllabus etc.
  2. Learn Tricks: In test’s like XAT one not only needs to solve questions correctly but also need to do it faster. Especially in the QA and DI sections. Therefore look for some tricks, short-cut’s to solve questions quickly. This would ultimately save time for other questions.
  3. Mock Test: Mock tests play a very important role in preparation for XAT. Once the basic concepts are clear, one should try to go with as many mock tests as possible. Appearing for the mock test gives us a XAT feel. Helps us in understanding the pressure. After giving a mock test, one should analyse their performance , check their time for solving each question, check the weak areas and work on them.
  4. Weak areas: Just practising is not enough but one should check out the weak areas where he/she is lacking behind. Identification and then working on it will improve that part, and will help you gain more confidence. And will help you gain good marks.
  5. Create A Time Table: In the last few days for XAT, students get stressed and start getting off track. But these last days are the peak time. In this, students need to focus on repetitive questions and work on their weak areas. Therefore to be on the right track one needs to form a timetable and stick to it.
