India vs England match highlights: Sunday, October 29, 2023

India defeated England by 100 runs in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in Lucknow. The hosts put up a strong display, extending their winning streak to six games.

India batting:

India started conservatively after winning the toss, but Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul advanced the score. Sharma batted well, hitting his half-century off 65 deliveries before succumbing for 87 off 101 balls. Rahul hit 42 runs off 54 balls before being caught by Adil Rashid. Suryakumar Yadav scored 37 runs off 42 balls, including four fours and a six, but was finally removed by David Willey. Despite losing several wickets, India managed to score a respectable total of 229/9. Hardik Pandya added a late flourish.

England Bowling:

On a sluggish field, England’s bowlers, especially David Willey, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, and Sam Curran, efficiently controlled India. Willey grabbed three wickets for 46 runs, while Rashid took two for 43 runs, displaying superb control and variety. Reece Topley and Sam Curran both chipped in with wickets.

England Batting:

England’s chase got off to a shaky start, with three wickets falling in the opening ten overs. Liam Livingstone, a seasoned and composed batsman, batted with poise and positivity, achieving his half-century off 62 balls. However, England’s bowlers consistently took wickets, resulting in a 129-run loss. Livingstone was the only English batsman to provide any opposition, reaching 27 runs in a single innings.

India Bowling:

The Indian bowlers, headed by Jasprit Bumrah, bowled with great discipline and precision, making it tough for the English batters to score freely. They got four wickets for 22 runs, with Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj also chipping in. Hardik Pandya also pitched an economical spell, demonstrating India’s ability to apply pressure to the English batters.

India defeated England by 129 runs thanks to a strong effort that included a competitive total of 100 runs and superb bowling.
