India vs South Africa Match Highlights: Sunday, November 5, 2023

On November 5, 2023, India defeated South Africa by 243 runs at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. India batted first and reached 399/4 in 50 overs. South Africa were dismissed for 156 runs in 37.3 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja taking five wickets.

India Batting:

India won the toss and started carefully on a sluggish wicket, but Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul pushed the scoreboard forward. Sharma batted with power and ease, achieving his half-century in 59 balls. Kagiso Rabada removed Rahul after he struck 67 off 78 balls. Shreyas Iyer hit 51 off 45 balls, while Virat Kohli struck 160 off 117 balls with 19 fours and four sixes. In their allotted 50 overs, India concluded their innings on a massive 399/4.

South Africa Bowling:

On a sluggish field, South Africa’s bowlers battled to keep Indian batsmen at bay, with Kagiso Rabada collecting two wickets for 58 runs. Despite their quick pace and accuracy, Anrich Nortje and Wayne Parnell both grabbed wickets.

South Africa Batting:

South Africa’s chase got off to a shaky start, with three wickets falling in the opening ten overs. Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, and Aiden Markram were all sent off, leaving South Africa at 27/3. Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller attempted but failed to rebuild the innings. Ravindra Jadeja got rid of van der Dussen for 38 points and Miller for 35. South Africa consistently lost wickets and were bowled out for 156 runs in 37.3 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the Indian spinner of choice, capturing 5 wickets for 28 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami both had two wickets each.
